Served with 81 Sqn as part of 151 Wing Russia coded- -F, Salvaged around 1994-5 passing to Rick Roberts before he passed it on to Retro Track & Air, U.K. civil registration G-BYDL, see footnote on Russian recoveries
We have recieved an update on this aircraft from Dave Anson, who's father Peter John "Avro" Anson who flew this aircraft from HMS Argus to Vaenga on 7 September 1941.
The plane is currently being rebuilt at Thruxton airport and is expect to be airworthy by mid 2011.Hurricane MkIIb. Trop Z5227. Greg Herrish, U.S.A. - Reported planned airworthy restoration.
Served with 81 Sqn as part of 151 Wing coded 53-FE, unusually a photograph taken at the time of 151 Wing’s service in Russia confirms codes with serial,see footnote on Russian recoveries.
Hurricane MkIIb. Trop Z5252. Aviarestoration, Russia
Planned airworthy restoration when funds can be raised. Recovered from a lake in 2004, name of the lake I cannot remember and could not possibly pronounce anyway, aircraft was sent to Russia as part of 151 Wing, remained a spare R.A.F. aircraft, not used by 81 or 134 Squadrons, marked with a Red Star coded 01, presented to General Kouznetzov Commander of Soviet Air Forces Kola Region 25/9/41, the aircraft was flown on several missions by Russian pilots, it was whilst on one of these missions that the aircraft was hit by cannon fire from a BF 109, the pilot put the aircraft down on the top of a frozen lake and walked back to his unit to get help to recover it, when they returned they found that the aircraft had fallen through the ice so left it there.
Sea Hurricane Mk1b. Z7015 (Canadian Hooked). Shuttleworth Collection, Bedfordshire, U.K - Airworthy
Built by the Canadian Car & Foundry Co in late 1940 and shipped to England early 1941. Converted to a Sea Hurricane 6/7/41. May possibly have intended to be a training aircraft as both frame arrestor hook and catapult spools (Cam Ship type) were fitted. Served with 880 Sqn code 7- ,759 Sqn, Loughborough College as instructional airframe probably following a landing accident 11/43, passed to Shuttleworth Collection leaving by road on 21/2/61, displayed static, used in Battle of Britain Film for taxing & part dismantled shots during 1967 - 1968, moved to Staverton 1975 where some on/off restoration attempts were made. Moved to Duxford in 1981. Restoration carried out by Shuttleworth & Imperial War Museum who shared ownership and costs and flew again on 16/9/95 marked 7-1, 880 Sqn F.A.A. Shuttleworth Museum purchased Imperial War Museum’s share of the aircraft so now have total ownership, civil registration G-BKTH.
Sea Hurricane MkX. AE977 (Canadian un-hooked). Friedkin Family, Chino, Warbirds Collection U.S.A. - Airworthy.
Shipped to the United Kingdom in March 1941 and converted to Sea Hurricane Mk1a (Naval radio, no hook fitted) in July 1941. Served with 759 & 760 Sqn’s Fleet Air Arm. Crashed 5/12/42. Unusually there are some wartime air to air photographs of this aircraft, they clearly show de Havilland Propeller, no hook or catapult spools aircraft letter S. Wreck sold to Hawker Restoration Ltd, 1994, restored to airworthy condition marked LE-D 242 Sqn. This airraft was then operated by Hawker Restorations for a couple of air shows seasons before going to California, post restoration flight 7/6/2000

Quoted as being recovered from Russia by Daniel & Kevin Hunt 2002, at least two other owners one U.K. and one U.S.A. claim that they have a aircraft or parts of a aircraft with this serial. MK11b. BE146 Imperial War Museum, Duxford, Static. Wreck recovered from Russia, serial doubtful belongs to a aircraft known to have been shipped to Russia, at least one other serial found but this aircraft was never exported !, displayed as “Z2315" JU-E 111Sqn.

Ex Russia, reported at Frontline Museum, Isle of Wight 1999, is this aircraft the same aircraft reported to be at Airframe Assemblies; it seems likely.

Served with 137Sqn SF-C, 286Sqn NW-S, 16609 Flight, 631 Sqn 4E-,595 Sqn 7B-,639 Sqn- - -, Loughborough College as an instructional airframe 7/3/46, Birmingham Museum of Science and lndustry 1961 - - 2002, in Museum of Science and lndustry aircraft was painted as JV- -I of 6 Sqn Desert Scheme, in 2000 aircraft was painted as MK1 P3395 JX- B, 1 Sqn.
Hurricane MKIV. KZ191. Robs Lamplough, U.K. - Stored
Served with A.F.D.U. Wattisham, 1695 Flight (Bomber Defence) Dolton, Refurbished before being sent overseas, (Yugoslav), operations record book confirms March to April 45, 6 Sqnn Israel probably as a replacement aircraft flown out as maintenance unit closed down in 1946. Log books from pilots indicate aircraft was around from about August 1946 to late 1946, engine f disabled before scrapping so did not serve with the Israeli Air Force. Recovered from scrap yard in Jaffa Israel ,stored North Weald, now stored at owners farm. It is worth noting that the engine that is with the airframe is the original one that was fitted at Langley in 1943.

Sent to the Middle East ;ate 1943, to S.A.AF., 4/44, renovated and handed to Museum of S.A.A.F., around 1959, displayed marked 5285 AX-E.

Mounted on a concrete plinth and dedicated as a War Memorial, Serial unconfirmed, some people have tried to confirm the
serial without success.
